Our Uniform
We pride ourselves on the appearance of our children. It is Thorp’s policy that all children should wear uniform and be fully equipped for PE.
We would appreciate if you would observe the following guidelines.
Due to the size of our cloakrooms we request that children do not bring large bags or rucksacks to school but a Thorp logo reading book bag, or a plain book bag, and small sports kit bag with the child’s name on for their PE kit.
Early Years/Key Stage (1): Nursery/Reception/Years 1 and 2
- Grey skirt or pinafore
- Pale blue and white checked or striped school dress
- Grey shorts or trousers
- Pale blue shirt/blouse
- Pale blue polo shirt or Thorp logo polo shirt
- Navy blue jumper or sweatshirt with or without the Thorp logo
- Navy blue knitted cardigan
- White/black/navy/grey socks or tights
- Black, sensible protective school shoes (not trainers, boots or open toe sandals)
Key Stage (2): Years (3/4/5/6)
- Grey skirt or pinafore
- Pale blue and white checked or striped school dress
- Grey shorts or trousers
- Pale blue shirt/blouse
- Thorp school tie (elastic or wrap around)
- Navy blue jumper or sweatshirt with or without the Thorp logo
- Navy blue knitted cardigan
- White/grey/black/navy socks or tights
- Black sensible protective school shoes (not trainers, boots or open toe sandals)
Indoor PE kit (Reception to Y6)
- Pale blue t-shirt with/without the Thorp logo
- Navy shorts or skort
- Plain black pumps
Outdoor PE kit (Reception to Y6)
- Trainers
- Plain navy or black jogging bottoms and plain navy or black jumper or hoodie
- Pale blue t-shirt with/without the Thorp logo
HAIR
All hair to be tied back – navy or black headbands only, no bandanas.
No extreme hairstyles e.g. tramlines, patterns, very short/severe or layered cuts.
No gel or dyed hair
Please note that the wearing of make-up or nail varnish is not permitted in school.
JEWELLERY
For your child’s safety and for security reasons, jewellery is not to be worn in school.
Ear piercings are not encouraged however should a child have a piercing this should be undertaken within the long summer holiday to allow daily removal before returning to school. Children may wear wrist watches in school.
The wearing of earrings, studs or piercings in school is not permitted at any time.
LOST PROPERTY
If clothing is named, it will be returned to your child. Unmarked items are collected and stored for a limited period, after which they are disposed of.
It is recommended that all clothing is labelled with the name of the child.
MOBILE PHONES
Mobile phones for children are prohibited in school unless there is an emergency contact requirement, which has been agreed with the school.
In such instances the phone must be left with the School Office at the start of the school day, and picked up at the end of the day.
EQUIPMENT
The school provides all stationary and required equipment for lessons. Children are not required to bring pencil cases, stationary or equipment to school, and will not be using them in class if they do so.
